Rules for Use of Certificates, Certification Marks and Accreditation Symbols

Rules for EIQM personnel, certified clients and other authorized users, including ASCB accreditation marks and IRQAO logos.

1. Purpose

• These rules govern references to EIQM management-system certification and the use of EIQM certification marks, ASCB accreditation marks/logos and IRQAO logos. They are intended to prevent any claim or visual presentation that could mislead a reasonable observer about who issued a certificate, what has been certified, which sites and activities are covered, or whether a product, process or service has been certified.
• These rules form part of EIQM’s certification requirements and apply as a condition of certification.

2. General Rules for Certification Claims

• Refer to certification only while the certificate is valid and only for the legal entity, sites, standard, scope and activities stated on the current certificate.
• Identify EIQM as the certification body. No wording, layout or mark may imply that ASCB or IRQAO issued the client certificate.
• Ensure any reference is accurate, legible, not misleading and not likely to bring EIQM, ASCB, IRQAO or the certification system into disrepute.
• Do not imply that certification applies to activities, locations, products, processes, services or legal entities outside the certified scope.
• Do not transfer artwork or approval to an affiliate, subsidiary, sister company, franchisee, distributor, agent, supplier, customer or another certificate holder.
• When a scope is reduced, immediately amend all affected claims and advertising. When certification is suspended, withdrawn, expired or terminated, all affected references and mark use must cease or be amended without delay.

3. Product, Packaging and Report Restrictions

• The EIQM certification mark, ASCB mark/logo and IRQAO logos shall not be applied to a product, type label, identification plate or primary/product packaging.
• Certification marks shall not appear on laboratory test reports, calibration certificates, inspection reports or similar documents because those documents are treated as products in this context.
• No mark or statement may imply that a product, process, service or person has been certified by EIQM, ASCB or IRQAO.
• A statement without any certification or accreditation mark may be used on removable product packaging or accompanying information only after written EIQM approval. It shall identify the certified client, the type of management system and applicable standard, and EIQM as the certification body.

4. ASCB Accreditation Mark and Logo

• Only current ASCB artwork supplied or approved for the intended medium may be used.
• ASCB artwork may be used only for activities within EIQM’s current accredited scope. Any non-accredited activity must be clearly identified as excluded from accreditation.
• The ASCB accreditation mark on an EIQM-issued certificate shall be visually subordinate to the EIQM identity and shall not imply that ASCB issued the client’s certificate.
• A certified client shall never use the ASCB accreditation mark designated for certificates and shall never use any ASCB mark or logo independently.
• Where EIQM authorizes a client marketing-logo reference, only approved combined artwork may be used, with the EIQM logo on the left and the relevant ASCB logo on the right.
• The ASCB mark/logo shall not be used on vehicles, buildings, flags, goods, products, type labels, primary packaging, outside the accredited scope, by another legal entity, or in an altered, resized, cropped or transparency-edited form.

5. IRQAO Logo Rules

• IRQAO Full Box Bold artwork is reserved for certificates issued through the applicable IRQAO arrangement. It is not for client marketing, websites, stationery or publications and shall not be supplied for client use.
• IRQAO No-Box Bold artwork may be used by EIQM on EIQM letterheads, websites and internal documents. It shall not be supplied for use by organizations or persons certified by EIQM.
• The green IRQAO Registered logo may be authorized for a certified client’s website, stationery or marketing only while the client’s current registration is viewable on the IRQAO website.
• Old-style or reserved IRQAO logo variants shall not be used for new EIQM or client material.

6. Artwork Integrity

• Only official electronic files supplied by ASCB/IRQAO or a controlled derivative expressly approved in writing may be used.
• Artwork shall not be redrawn, recoloured, cropped, stretched, compressed, rotated, separated, animated, overprinted, placed inside another device, or have transparency, wording or proportions altered.
• Screenshots, copies taken from certificates, search results, social-media images and artwork downloaded from an uncontrolled website are prohibited.

7. Status and Scope Changes

• Following a scope reduction, all affected claims, websites, stationery and approved specimens must be amended so that excluded activities or sites are no longer represented as certified.
• During suspension, all advertising and communications promoting the suspended certification and all new use of marks must cease.
• Following withdrawal, expiry or termination, all certification references and mark/logo use must cease; digital material must be removed and controlled artwork returned, destroyed or disabled as instructed.
• If EIQM’s accreditation scope is reduced, suspended, amended or withdrawn, EIQM may require immediate amendment or removal of affected accreditation references.

8. Misuse and Enforcement

• EIQM may require immediate correction, removal, recall, replacement or cessation of a misleading claim or mark use.
• EIQM may require objective evidence of correction within a defined period.
• Depending on the seriousness and recurrence of misuse, EIQM may suspend, reduce or withdraw certification or permission to use artwork; publish the transgression or correction; notify relevant parties; or take contractual or legal action.
